Advice for using a face mask with a beard is a common thing men wonder about given the 2019-2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
An old infographic from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2017 has been making the rounds.
As you can see from the link above, the infographic shows a labelled list of the most popular male facial hair styles and indicates whether each is conducive to properly wearing a tight-fitting respirator.
So the infographic is from 2017 and specifically refers to “tight-fitting respirators” and not specifically face masks that people tend to wear currently.
Also, 2017 was clearly a different time.
Using a face mask with a beard doesn’t have to be an issue unless the beard is somehow so full and thick, that it prevents you from wearing the mask properly. I have a goatee and as of writing this, have been wearing a blue disposable mask in stores due to the local laws for over 2+ months and have not had any difficulty.
