I recently tried Palmolive shave cream in tube format for the first time. Here is a review of my experience with it.
The Palmolive shave cream harkens back to a past time where shaving cream didn’t typically come from a pressurized can. Palmolive shaving cream in a tube doesn’t lather up thick like popular canned products do but I found it still gave me a nice, clean shave and even with the brand new disposable razor I used, I didn’t cut myself.
This specific product has a Palm Extract scent and I liked it. The scent of the shaving cream was very pleasant and somewhat surprising. Canned shaving creams often have a scent however this one was stronger but wasn’t overpowering.
Palmolive Shave Cream
I tried a few different things just to see what would happen. First I lathered up by squeezing a small amount of shaving cream in my dry hands. It didn’t lather up at all. I then dampened my hands to see if that made a difference and added a bit more shaving cream in my palms. It soaped up a bit but I wouldn’t call it lather.
The Palmolive shaving cream goes on more like soap than shaving cream. It doesn’t foam up like the canned shaving creams that go really puffy in your hand and on your face. However, once applied to the skin, the Palmolive shaving cream sticks to the skin and really rubs in. It doesn’t come off easily which is good. While shaving cream from a can can easily be scraped off your skin, you can’t do that with the Palmolive stuff.
I only paid 85 cents for the tube so it wasn’t expensive. Other tubes of shaving cream at the same store were upwards of $3 – $4 each. I was interested to try the cheapest product I could find to see how it performed.
How Did It Perform?
The Palmolive shave cream in a tube worked fine as far as I’m concerned. I was able to quickly and safely shave my face as usual even with far less lather than I’m used to with shaving cream. I wouldn’t it even call it lather as it really did resemble soap on my face as mentioned earlier.
It didn’t dry off and it quickly came off my skin as I shaved. There wasn’t as much excess shaving cream to wipe off my face when I was finished. I did have to rinse off the remainder but it left a nice scent on my face.
I did notice that my disposable razor did clog up more than with canned shaving cream. I found it more difficult to get the hair and shaving cream out of the razor at times and needed to use a strong spray of running water to do so. Not a complain, more an observation.
All in considering the price, the Palmolive shaving cream worked well and I have no complaints. And even ignoring the price, it works very well.
